Please join us as Brett goes in-depth on the biology of feral hogs, and how that biology plays into the specifics of the Dallas Park and Recreation Department’s feral hog plan.

Brett Johnson
Brett grew up in the Dallas area, and got an interest in conservation while in the Boy Scouts. He is an Eagle Scout, and recently found himself becoming a Cubmaster for a cub scout pack in Grand Prairie. Brett earned a BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences at Texas A&M University, and an MS in Interdisciplinary Studies at Texas Tech. After graduating from college, he worked a variety of field tech jobs like working with the endangered Florida key deer, wild fire ecology and damage recovery, and his personal passion, black bears in New Mexico. For 11.5 years, he was an Urban Wildlife Biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. There he became well known for speaking on urban wildlife issues, especially related to coyotes and cattle egrets. In November of 2015, he left TPWD to become the Senior Environmental Coordinator/Urban Biologist for the Dallas Park and Recreation Department. There he oversees the Department’s feral hog abatement program, pollinator conservation initiatives, prairie management plan, and forest ecology related recommendations on Park’s property.”
Interesting fact about Brett: He can tie close to 100 knots off the top of his head, so next time you see him ask him to tie you a Monkey Fist!
